How Comic Books inspire human emotion.
In today’s world, comic books have made there way from the small cubicles that hold the scene on the page to the silver screen that gives them a lot more leg room. For many of use it all started with Spiderman, the timeless story of a young teenager who is bitten by a radio active spider. If you’re a DC fanboy maybe it was Batman, The incredible story of how the death of a young boys parent inspired him to become the world’s greatest detective. Whether you’re a DC or Marvel Comics fan you can greatly appreciate the high end movies both parties are producing. A vase majority of us remember the first supermovie we have seen. I can probably say that the movie I’m talking about is Superman: The Movie starring the late Christopher Reeves. Automatically becoming an instant classic, please forgive Richard Pryor for his appear but nevertheless; superheroes were winning. It might have been the first superhero movie we seen but I wasn’t born when that movie came out. I lived through the era of when Batman ran the silver screen. Yes, I’m telling my age; I was alive to see all the Batman movies including that God awful performance of George Clooney( Val Kilmer you my homie). We from that point on desired to see more. It was be disrespect for me not to mention that other comic book properties that shaped where we are today. The Phantom, The shadow and Dick Tracy are the early attempts to get comics in the movie market. They successed. They got these properties on the silver screen but they didn’t have them in the money making market. It wasn’t until the 2000's that we really got see what comics book movies can do, thanks to new technical advances such as CGI and other 3D software. The reason why comics are killing it in Hollywood is..It appeals to Men and Women. We love Thor because He is a God with a hammer that hurt the hell out of you if disrespect Asgard but Women love Thor because of when the enemy blasts his shirt off you get to see a nice oiled body. You get my point?
Captain American The first Avenger, He throws his shield and fights Red Skull; men love that shit but when he is not in costume and women get to see his gorgeous face (Chris Evan is a very handsome young man..Pause) they love that shit too. Comics have become the career booster for many stars also, many of these stars might have kids or at least nieces and nephews that idolize these heroes. Robert Downey Jr, where would he be if he wasn’t casted to be Iron Man. Hugh Jackman, name a movie that saw Hugh jackman before X-men. Hugh Jackman has become a household name. More importantly comic book movies will always be successful in Hollywood because it gives up a chance to leave the real world and create our own. I can’t be the only one that when watching the Amazing Spiderman or any of these superhero movies putting myself in their shoes. So in my mind I’m not watching Robert Downey in the Mark 5 suit..I’m watching myself. You get to see what makes an Alien hero like Superman have human emotion. Why it’s important to face others..this is what make superhero movies great. You have to see past the cape and cowl sometime to see the real story. The real story is we are all heroes we just need it pull out of us sometimes.
