The Abruptness of SCOTUS’ Actions Needs a Unifying Explanation. Here’s One.
Who is SCOTUS working for, exactly?
It is the abruptness of these major decisions that seem peculiar to me. It feels eerie and déjà vu like it is from our collective unconscious. — RvW, EPA’s castration, gun rights for all, immigration relaxation, and whatever is next.
It is not who we know we must worry about; it is who we do not (know).
The Pro-Life side of this debate may very well feel that this decision was made for them. Maybe. Perhaps, arguably likely so. I wonder, however, if this isn’t the reason SCOTUS did this but used the convenience of it for a different reason. Let me explain, and the explanation also supports why there is such clear dispassion for life after birth…
There is something called Occam’s Razor that I should have learned during my chemical engineering training but did not. I learned it many years later and I cannot help but use it when making sense out of things. Occam’s Razor says that the simplest explanation — the one with the fewest conditions to be true is the one that is most often the cause of the observation. I propose an Occam’s Razor worthy explanation for the bizarre abruptness of SCOTUS.
Let’s start with the Elephant in the room — Climate Destabilization. We can call it Global Warming or Climate Change. I use “destabilization” because that is the societal experience — unprecedented events replacing the already recent unprecedented until we just get used to it. We become desensitized to climate disasters to where they become gossip topics in social circles.
No matter what model NASA uses, their predictions are tracking with measured data (link). Anyone who claims it is not real are likely not able to hear anything science-based that is contrary to their engrained beliefs. This is called the Dunning-Kruger Effect where strength of opinion typically covers up ignorance and where hesitance for confidence comes from those who do have the appropriate cumulative knowledge, which is why they tend to suppress confidence.
Realistically, do you think we could ever coordinate on a global basis in time to curb the continued destabilization of our climate? One could argue the same for how can we expect 7.8B people to cooperate with single-use plastic packaging waste management. Perhaps those behind these SCOTUS actions are actually looking at Entropy (second Law of thermodynamics) when it decided to castrate the EPA’s power so that industry can run unabated and unchecked. “If you can’t stop it, lead it.” Is that the sentiment here? Too little too late so “F it” and just go faster towards the imminent darkness. Is that it?
Food scarcity and access to fresh water will lead to major conflict. This time, it will not be over energy because we do have proven green technology options in addition to substantial natural gas reserves.
As these conflicts become both obvious and perceived as inevitable, America still has a decimal point problem. It only has 330 million people whereas China has 1.4 billion as does India. America has less than 5% of the global population. Hitler once said, “he alone, who owns the youth controls the future.” We also know from history that the American Revolution was inevitable because the birth rates where substantially higher here than in Great Britain’s near declining numbers.
The Pro-Life movement of the religious Right is a convenient vehicle to do what is necessary today to have enough fighting men in the 20–25 years of age by 2050. Reversing RvW has nothing to do with the definition of what constitutes life. It is about making enough babies to feed a future war machine.
Gun rights compliment this. They want guns to be as ubiquitous as Iphones.
Immigration? Bring them in, especially Catholics in Mexico and South and Central America. Why? Babies, that’s why. When the time is right, America may take over Mexico and make it look effortless compared to Russia’s quickly forgotten takeover of Ukraine. What about Canada? They are likely fine so long as they behave, unless, of course, their material resources are coveted to prevent anyone else from getting them.
We do not have to worry so much about the social impact of millions of unwanted babies or otherwise strains on the system. Who better to give an assault rifle to than a tortured young soul? (Note to John Oliver — put your skills to work showing how failed family courts and the emotional abuse from the Parental Alienation epidemic being behind not only millions of tortured American souls but also behind many of the young male mass shooters.)
America, the greatest country in the world who can and should establish leadership to curb climate disaster instead has decided to put the pedal to the metal and be ready to go to war for what is left in the end.
We are living our own South Park episode…
