While you have some good points in this piece, I completely disagree with the above point. I will grant that few people truly understand this difference. But just because one doesn’t understand it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Wounds are either healed or not. If you are still reliving the pain of them, the wound simply hasn’t yet been healed. It may have been talked about, understood, relived, and yes, focused on. But none of those things are healing. For a detailed explanation of healing process, I would recommend looking into some profound therapeutic/healing practices. I will name Internal Family Systems, Somatic Therapies or even Shamanistic Healing. Also check out Dan Seigel’s Mindsight. There are many ways. I will grant this: most methods miss the mark and fail to actually deliver meaningful transformational healing. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t out there.
