I use the “Stretch” workout timer as a Pomodoro app because, out of dozens of Pomodoro apps for iPhone, they all flat-out suck. Stretch comes close. I think I’ll make an app myself, there seems to be an enormous quality gap in this market.
Anyways, I use a 24-minute timer with a 6-minute break. I do my billing in decimal increments (i.e., “1.3 hours”) and, 0.1 hours = 6 minutes. For non-billing tasks (like studying, research, writing, etc.), it still works out: Once the 24-minute timer expires, the 6-minute break timer starts but I might not start my break for 1–3 minutes. That gives me 1–3 minutes of “bleed time” to finish the task I’m on or at least reach a suitable “break point.”
