A poem about life and love and mornings…

First Thing In the Morning

a poem

Hands smile their way lightly down the line of the back

First thing in the morning.

Shoulder moves to let head rest against chest

First thing in the morning.

Sighs escape, taking flight to the windowsill

First thing in the morning.

The sound of birds cooing doubled

First thing in the morning.

Two coupled into one

First thing in the morning.

Carefully gathering the tails of sleep

Like picking up clothes strewn on the floor

First thing in the morning.

Mouth drawing lines over hip bones

First thing in the morning.

Quiet rhythmic movement

First thing in the morning.

Bodies rocking like boats on an ocean

First thing in the morning.

Falling together, then apart

First thing in the morning.

Gentle awakening

First thing in the morning.
