I think the Rockets weakened themselves with the Chris Paul trade.
The Clippers made out like bandits — though given their other problems, starting with Doc Rivers’ iso-heavy offense, weak defensive schemes and overpaying his own son, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to accomplish much anyway. Though they do have Jerry West whispering in Steve Ballmer’s ear; that counts for something.
Boston, on the other hand, is stronger now — though not by any huge amount. Pretty good coach, pretty good talent skewed young, decent bench, still holding assets useful in future trades. I’d put them at the Rockets level next year, mainly because I think the Rockets’ bench next year is sub-par.
Boston should have a pretty good season next year.
