Good Morning Linda,
I’ve just read John Metta’s “I, Racist” article (which I found useful and insightful in many ways). After I worked my way through most of the comments your contribution leapt out at me. Thanks for hitting the nail on the head in terms of identifying the patriarchal/religious roots of many of our problems. I agree that recognizing the role of “His-story” (what a profoundly sexist term!) in shaping our consciousness is fundamentally important to being able to understand the nature of the problems we face today.
“How is the human race so technologically advanced yet so spiritually retarded?”
Once again, you have nailed it. My own answer to that is that most of us use highly dysfunctional forms of ‘spiritual technology’. As a person working in the tech field I understand the meaning of software ‘bugs’ and ineffective design. When people regard their religion as the ‘word of god’ and not as a ‘spiritual tool’ then they accept all its limitations and flaws.
I see that this was your first comment on Medium. This is mine. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Michael
