I respect the commitment pacifists have. That said, violence and the anger and fear surrounding it are an inherent part of the human condition. It is natural to be repulsed by their negative aspects but I dread the day that we divest ourselves of them completely and lose them as motivators and shapers of the psyche. Further, I think so long as they are part of us ignorance of violent impulses endangers us more than the act. I would be happier if more people learned to get a handle on anger and violent impulses rather than being taught to tamp them down and sublimate the urge.
