We are proud to announce that Verv’s CEO and Founder, Peter Davies, has been recognised as a Meaningful Business 100 (MB100) Leader by HotTopics.ht, a global business thought leadership platform.

This highly esteemed platform recognises leaders who are combining profit and purpose to work towards achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

HotTopics.ht received over 500 peer nominations, from more than 50 countries, with each person scored across four key areas: leadership, innovation, scope and durability. The rigorous nomination process, led by an expert panel of 12 judges, whittled down the list to recognise the top 100 leaders, including Peter.

Founding Editor of HotTopics.ht, Tom Lytton-Dickie, said, “We are delighted to recognise Peter Davies as part of the Meaningful Business 100, which celebrates leaders from across the world, cutting across geography, industry, role and company size. Our goal is to create a unified platform for these leaders to collaborate and share knowledge in order to amplify their social impact in support of the UN 2030 agenda.”

Peter, an engineer, software architect and tech enthusiast, was nominated for this award for his work in creating positive social change in the sustainability sector through innovative technology.

Speaking about the nomination, Peter said, “I am thrilled to be included in the Meaningful Business 100 list. The passion and dedication to delivering on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals is apparent from all those nominated. I am honoured to be named alongside some really incredible people driving truly impactful businesses.”

Having created the AI-based Verv hub that breaks down household appliance usage in real-time to enable users to reduce their bills and carbon footprints, Peter wanted to take this one step further. He decided to incorporate blockchain into the Verv hub in order to enable households with solar panels to sell the excess energy that they generate directly to their neighbours, instead of it being sent back to the grid. By cutting out the middle-man, households that can’t afford solar panels can buy energy from their neighbours at a cheaper cost than they could buy it from their supplier, improving access to cheaper, green energy. On the flip side, those with solar panels can make a better return on their investment, thus improving uptake.

Peter has brought this energy trading platform to life at a social housing estate in London where solar panels are used to power communal areas but residents are unable to benefit directly from the green energy. The Verv platform is unlocking this solar energy for the residents, using AI & blockchain to bring down bills.

The 100 business leaders represent 40 countries, including the UK, US, India, Nigeria, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, Ghana and Brazil. Industries that dominate the list include technology, retail, energy, education, waste management, food & beverage and agriculture.

This nomination is a real testament to Peter’s hard work over the past few years and his dedication to driving down carbon emissions and reducing customer bills. He is driving a truly impactful, purpose-led business and the team here at Verv are very proud of him.

HotTopics.ht is devoted to facilitating meaningful business conversations featuring the world’s most influential leaders. Learn more about the MB100 platform and leaders, here.
