JOU 222 — Casamento_Blog2
In the past several years, I would say roughly six, it seems as though blogging has become a regular thing for people. Anybody can make a website, purchase a domain name, and post a couple of photos or a couple of stories and call themselves a blogger- but it is how they post content, what kind of content they post, and how they present themselves that really matter. Nobody wants to keep up with a blog that is poorly put together with ill-fitting colors, or loud music that plays when it hits your screen. Blogging has basically become a career, but it takes a certain kind of blogger to make a career out of it. It can come naturally to some, but for others it takes some time to figure out.
I’ll admit it, when I was in my late teens I wanted nothing more than to have a successful blog. It became something that I couldn’t keep up with and I just couldn’t find a way to keep my own voice in it and my content consistent. I also didn’t have the sufficient skills to design my blog the way I wanted to, so that kind of held me back as well. Instead of allowing it to frustrate me, I found myself writing for other blogs little by little and the satisfaction of doing so felt even better. With that being said, I have come across so many blogs, mostly fashion, that I can’t even lie, were completely terrible. The colors were bad, the content had no flow, and there was unnecessary background music playing. I don’t think that blogging is for everybody, especially in a professional sense.
For a few years I attended a fashion seminar held by Teen Vogue Magazine. Each year the seminar featured specific bloggers who have have made a name for themselves in the fashion industry, and upon seeing their blogs, you would know why. Just because it is a blog, doesn’t mean it can’t have a sense of professionalism or be ran like it is a business. A blog should be run professionally. A blog should be treated as a business model. A blog is a step in the right direction of building your personal brand, as long as it is done correctly.
