Review what you wrote about what you found in Johnston Hall last week. Then look at your notes. Did you miss any details? What are the advantages and disadvantages of writing without looking at your notes?
The object that I focused on in the first class was very simple. Even still, I did find that I was missing details when trying to rewrite the description from memory. Some advantages of looking at your notes would be more accuracy and more detail. A disadvantage could be the lack of creativity.
What did you learn from eavesdropping on a classroom?
I learned that it is a lot harder to understand a lecture without context.
What’s something you learned from a magazine or newspaper?
I learned that Marquette has their own satirical publication produced by students.
What is the Marquette Tribune editor in chief doing today?
He passed away 3 years ago but before that, Stanley Ziemba was an writer for the Chicago Tribune.
What can you find out about the professor you wrote down from the directory? What have they researched? What are they known for?
I wrote down John Pauly and have learned that he is known for and has researched history, sociology, mass media, and journalism.
What did you say in the note you put in a professor’s mailbox? What skills did you learn from this person?
I said something along the lines of, Hi Doc Pok, we are required to write a note a put it in a professors mailbox so here this is! Hope all is well! Vanessa. I took his Sports Promotion class and seeing as I hope to enter into the sports marketing industry, I learned a lot about the logistics of working in that industry from him.
What did you learn from the student who works in student media?
He is one of my good friends, and I learned that he is the Executive Director and that one should “always stick to the facts and be objective”.
What alum from the Alumni Hall of Fame inspires you and why?
The Alum that inspired me was Rudy Bednar. He made many documentaries and is well know for his investigative report on the explosion of Pan Am Flight 103. He inspires me because the work he has done has made a difference overseas.
What did you see when you visited a new floor in Johnston Hall?
I was in the basement and I saw long empty hall ways, framed copies of old Marquette Tribunes, and dirty tiled floors.

I noticed that I was anxious to turn it back on.
