We need a whole lot of courage in the world right now. After all, there is so. damn. much. that needs to change. But the silver lining is that there are brave and brilliant leaders out there, fighting tirelessly for that change.

At FRESH Speakers, we believe it’s our mission to amplify and support those at the forefront.

To say the fifth class of FRESH Speakers are a powerful crew would be an understatement. They are a mighty dozen who we believe embody so much of the ingenuity, leadership, and courage that we need to move the country — and the world — forward. We’re honored to welcome them to the FRESH community.

Aimee Allison founded and runs She The People, a national network elevating the political voice and power of women of color.

Esra’a Al Shafei is a Bahraini human rights activist who creates technology platforms that support marginalized voices in the Middle East and Africa. She retains physical anonymity online for her and her family’s safety.

Veronica Chambers is a best-selling author and New York Times editor who uncovers the stories about the things that matter — including food and Beyoncé. (Naturally.)

Alicia Garza is a multi-movement leader who believes that black communities deserve what all communities deserve — to be powerful in every aspect of their lives.

Dr. Rob Gore is an emergency medicine physician who creates anti-violence and mentoring programs for teens in Brooklyn, NY.

Thomas Page McBee is a writer and author disrupting the public imagination about what it means to be a man.

Chloe McKenzie is creating what she calls “wealth justice” by disrupting the financial services industry.

Nilofer Merchant activates leaders to harness what she calls, “Onlyness”: the experience, talent, perspective, and purpose lying untapped in each of us.

Aisha Nyandoro is creating the very first of its kind guaranteed income program for single, black mothers in the history of the United States.

Susan Robinson is upending expectations in the workplace and world about leadership and disability.

Jess Morales Rocketto is organizing for the most pressing issues of our time, like the thousands of families that have been separated and detained at the border.

Shannon Watts is mobilizing a movement of mothers (and many more) who are saying “enough is enough” to gun violence.
