Governance Proposal v1.4.0 Successful
Vara’s developer community unveiled v1.4.0 and runtime 1400 for Gear, optimizing the user experience and improving the ecosystem.

With the successful tests of the v1.4.0 tag, a proposal was made to incorporate these updates. The proposal involved upgrading crates to “v1.4.0” and the runtime. Below are the highlights of this release:
- User-space improvements: refactored gtest structures, enabled compile-time address conversion, added Vara address support and implemented cargo-gbuild for optimized WASM builds.
- Runtime enhancements and bug fixes: improved stability, speed, and security with a redesigned engine, memory allocation bug fix and new WASM import/data size restrictions.
- Other notable improvements: removed waiting init list for uninitialized programs, optimized validator gas payouts and updated Substrate to v1.2.0.
The community voted and approved the updates through a governance proposal. The upgrade was activated at block number 12629500, integrating the new version onto the mainnet on Tue Jun 04 2024 16:25 GMT
