Records still exist. You can buy them at the store and online. That’s because having a physical memorial to your music is very appealing to folks who like music a lot. I predict CD’s will continue to have a long tail of relative mainstream disuse, but with enough sales from music lovers to keep production profitable. Sure, you’ll have to explain what they are to your kids; how it’s all old technology, and how it’s mostly been bypassed for streaming. But, at the same time, you may still know someone at that point in time who buys CDs.
