Nikola Tesla’s Flying Saucer

An antigravity stove that moves without propulsion.

“Tesla’s Saucer”, from the “Quantum Consciousness” collection on Rarible.

Tesla stated that one of his life’s goals was to create a flying machine that could function without the use of an internal combustion engine or wings, ailerons, propellants, or any source of fuel. Tesla initially thought of an airplane that could fly thanks to an electric motor powered by a generator on the ground. Over time, he speculated that this plane could move entirely mechanically. The shape assumed for the aircraft was that of a typical cigar or sausage.

“I am now planning aerial machines devoid of sustaining planes, ailerons, propellers, and other external attachments, which will be capable of immense speeds” — Tesla’s autobiography

To a Westinghouse manager, Tesla wrote: ‘‘You should not be at all surprised, if some day you see me fly from New York to Colorado Springs in a contrivance which will resemble a gas stove and weigh as much…and could, if necessary enter and depart through a window”. (7–7–1912)

Tesla intended the world to have a free, wireless, source of power: “My power generator will be of the simplest kind — just a big mass of steel, copper and aluminum comprising a stationary and rotating part, peculiarly assembled.”

According to museum officials at The Nikola Tesla museum in Belgrade, “he left sketches of interplanetary ships. This information, however, has not been made available to western scholars”.

After these experiments I planned to build a flying machine, which could fly not only in the air but within interplanetary space. The principle of operation of the flying machine is as follows: towards the flight direction, compression of the ether is to become weaker by the generator installed in the flying machine. As the ether keeps pressing with prior intensity from all other sides, then the flying machine began moving. Being within this flying machine you will not feel its speeding-up as the ether is not to hamper your movement. I had to abandon my plans to create the flying machine. There were two reasons for it: first, I have no money to work in secret. But the main reason is that the great war began in Europe and I wouldn’t like my inventions used to kill! When on earth will these madmen stop?

So again, the way this spacecraft would move is thanks to aether, or the rarefaction of it in the direction of movement, because from all the other sides, being constant in space, it will exert a thrust on the ship, moving it in the desired verse. Here’s an interview in which he talks more in dept about his ship:

The flying machine of the future — my flying machine — will be heavier than air, but it will not be an airplane. It will have no wings. It will be substantial, solid, stable. You cannot have a stable airplane. The gyroscope can never be successfully applied to the airplane, for it would give a stability that would result in the machine being torn to pieces by the wind, just as the unprotected airplane on the ground is torn to pieces by a high wind. My flying machine will have neither wings nor propellers. You might see it on the ground and you would never guess that it was a flying machine. Yet it will be able to move at will through the air in any direction with perfect safety, at higher speeds than have yet been reached, regardless of weather and oblivious of ‘holes in the air’ or downward currents. It will ascend in such currents if desired. It can remain absolutely stationary in the air even in a wind for great length of time. Its lifting power will not depend upon any such delicate devices as the bird has to employ, but upon positive mechanical action.” [Here it is again: “mechanical”]

“You will get stability through gyroscopes?” I asked. ” Through gyroscopic action of my engine, assisted by some devices I am not yet prepared to talk about,” he replied. Dr. Tesla smiled an inscrutable smile. “All I have to say on that point is that my airship will have neither gas bag, wings nor propellers,” he said. “It is the child of my dreams, the product of years of intense and painful toil and research. I am not going to talk about it any further. But whatever my airship may be, here at least is an engine that will do things that no other engine ever has done, and that is something tangible”. From the book Tesla’s Engine — A New Dimension For Power

Here’s the science behind this principle: “The ability of a gyroscope to ‘defy gravity’ is baffling”, and “when a force is applied to try to rotate the spin axis of a gyroscope, the gyroscope reacts to the input force along an axis perpendicular to the input force”, “according to the right-hand rule”. This is called “gyroscopic precession”.

Tesla had contracted with both Allis Chalmers and with Westinghouse’s railway and lighting division to build a 36,000 rpm turbine to “fly from New York to Colorado Springs in a contrivance which will resemble a gas stove” — July 7th 1912.

Doesn’t this spaceship resemble the functioning and also the design of some of the UFOs seen all over the world? Maybe he knew the technology behind this machines, not because he was in contact with aliens, as some new age ufologist would like to think, but because he was a man ahead of his time, sadly not appreciated by the short sighted minds of his period. Like Nietzsche said: “I will be contemporary in one hundred years”. Unfortunately, almost that time has passed but he’s still considered a simple inventor, nothing more.
