Should we catch them all?

I honestly can not tell if this article is satire or not. I’ve been playing the Pokémon games since I was 5 or so years old, my first Christmas present memory being Pokémon Silver. I know you’ve watched the original series, but honestly have you even played Pokémon Go and/or some of the Pokémon versions?

I’ve been steadying leveling up on Go and my best two Pokémon right now are my Pidgeot and Jolteon. You can certainly still make emotional attachments to your Pokémon in Go. You can still raise them through candies you collect and nickname them whatever your hearts desire is. Pokémon (whether through the 3ds or Go on the phone) is in no way shape or form even remotely similar to dog fighting or cock fighting. Do you have people that get way too competitive? You bet, but these jerks can be found in every fighting stylized game.

Read the Pokedex entries, learn how trainers and Pokémon bond with each other THROUGH battling. The Pokémon WANT to battle. They see it as exercise. Not to mention, they only fight to the point of fainting. Death rarely, if ever occurs due to a Pokémon battle. The Pokémon WANT to make their trainers happy, because they see each other as companions. The Pokeballs aren’t cage either, as revealed by the series lore.

Just because the platform is different (battling on your phone over your 3ds), doesn’t mean the ideology behind the game is suddenly different. Your Pokémon in Pokémon Go also have cute little heart emoticons that pop up when you use a potion or revival item on them.
