The Internet of Things, aka IoT, is a decentralized internetworking concept that requires a different device-level internetworking structure than the current centralized client/server based Internet. There are currently no set standards for such an architecture by standards organizations, e.g. IEEE, and many companies are only developing and building their own IoT networks and products.
