These are great, realistic advice.
I remember having the same method for 2 years of just pushing hard whenever I started my 'workout plan'... then, after about 2 weeks, I was that demotivated that I simply stopped working out.
About 6 months ago I got slowly into fitness and working out in general. It started from stretching and getting flexible. Later I was adding just few exercises to my workout so I wouldn't get too exhausted and I kept increasing the amount as well as length of training.
However I'm glad I read your article because I've been comparing a lot to others.
