Even though it is a very important and common document that every fresher should have to apply for a job most of their resumes are not up to the mark. Here are some tips to make your resume perfect.

1. What is the ideal format of a resume? A resume should always be in the order mentioned below:

NAME AND CONTACT DETAILS: Star with your name, and make sure the first letters of your name are capital. Eg: Alison Garner. Then followed by your location/Address, Eg: Green Park, New Delhi, then mention your contact number Eg: 987358XXXX, and Email: alisongarner@gmail.com. Make sure your contact number is working and you have access to the email id you provided.

PICTURE: Make sure to add an updated picture of yourself to make the resume look more attractive. Don’t use pictures with filters on, just use a picture that makes you look professional.

JOB TITLE: Mention the title you want to work as or you have been working as so far! Eg: Content Writer.

SUMMARY/ CAREER OBJECTIVE: In this section write about your vision, motto, or goal. Make sure to include how you can be an asset to the company. And how you are perfect for this role.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION: Start with your basic education, make sure to mention your school and college names, along with the state in which they are located, with your course and marks. Starting with your recent qualification going back to the basics.

Eg: Completed Bachelor’s from Delhi University in Hotel Management and Hospitality in the year 2020

Completed class 12 from Bluebells Public School, New Delhi, CBSE Board, in Humanities Stream with 82% in the year 2017

Completed class 10 from Delhi Public School, Meerut, CBSE Board, in first division with 89% in the year 2015

WORK EXPERIENCE: Add a detailed description of your work experience if you have any and if you don’t and are a fresher you can use title it as Extracurricular activities and state all the activities you have done or participated in your college years. Or any internship you have completed.

PERSONAL DETAILS: Mention your age/DOB, marital status, gender, address, etc.

KEY STRENGTHS: Mention all your strengths like Good with computers, communication skills, leadership, good listener, etc.

Never mention your weaknesses in your resume.

2. The format of your file should always be a PDF and not anything else.

3. The name of your file is important: When you upload your resume, make sure you rename your resume’s file name to ‘YOUR NAME-RESUME’, it makes the work of HR easy to track whose resume file they have downloaded and without opening it they can find out your name.
