What a tuition center taught me: Xcite Learning Center

Engage | Excite | Excel

Xcite Group Pte Ltd is in the Education business, it owns Xcite Learning Center a Tuition and Enrichment center in Blk 101, Yishun Ave 5, #02-43, S760101. We run our center with passion to engage, excite students and ensure that they excel in their academia.

Started in January 2013, its been a little more than a year now and thought that id share my thoughts and experience running this business with my partner, Sara and Gaya

Running a successful tuition center had been an idea ringing in our minds for a long time, however the thought of the investment, skills set, the know hows were intimidating to us all. None of us were experienced in this sector, but it was that one fine October 2012 that we decided to register the firm and then start looking for a centre which got us started without procrastinating.

To those thinking of starting one, i would strongly recommend doing some research on the demo graphics of the area that you wish to setup your centre. Try to understand the requirements of the parents and children. Singapore is small but to my surprise every area is different, even two blocks away is different. Take time on this one ☺

So after our research we decided to setup our base at Blk 101, Yishun Ave 5, #02-43, S760101 and started preparing the center for renovation. This is also a crucial part in setting up a center. You will notice that big successful centers normally have a colour theme and system in place that they follow strictly and also administer that of their franchisees. I learnt the importance when we were done choosing the right colours, furnitures and layout for our center.

Be sure to listen to feedback, if someone tells you that the choice of colors aren't right, listen and take action. This is not your house, this is a place of business so your customers are surely right on this one. Trust me.

A tuition center has many specialisation especially these days. We have preschools, kindergartens, primary, secondary, junior colleges, special education, specialised studies and enrichment courses. So what should you offer at your center ? Good question.

Your demographic and your area of interest will answer that one above. Do take note that you really need passion to pull this through. A tuition center is a brick and motar business as much as you would like to integrate technology. Like all businesses, it takes time, energy and lots of patience to pull it through.

Sometimes its easier to franchise a tuition center than to build it from scratch as it cuts a considerable amount of time to learn the know hows. Xcite do offers franchisee to benefit from our structure & system.

As for Xcite Learning Center, www.xlc.com.sg. We are currently serving 90 students at our center which specialises Preschool Program called Discovery Kids, Chinese Reading & Writing, Primary to Junior College English, Math and Science. We are also actively involved in enrichment programs with our Reading Programs, Group Maths, Actor In You, Pottery, Art and Dance.
