Order a Pizza, Through Slack, Today!
Pizza. It’s the staple, go-to food of choice of just about everyone. Coders. Technical teams. Support personnel. Even CEOs. When you’re hungry and need to load up on carbs to power through the day (or night) you end up ordering a pizza.
Today, Velocity Growth is announcing Vinny G, a Slackbot for ordering a pizza. The bot, if you’re in our initial pilot program, allows you to customize your pizza and order, and within the hour, you’ll have a piping hot pizza (or pizzas) in your hands.
Why a Pizza Bot?
We started building basic product extension of our core offering Slack. We got hungry and realized how fun it was to incorporate ordering pizza in Slack. It comes hot. It’s delicious and it’s hassle-free food. Anytime you get hungry all you have to do is type a few commands and shortly after your pizza is on the way.
How it Works
To order, first need to install (or have your Slack admin install) our Vinny G Slack app within your team. From there, it’s a simple messenger-based process, type “/pizza” for a small cheese pizza or add a few commands to customize, for example:
“/pizza add 2 large pepperoni and Italian-sausage”
“/pizza add 1 small mushroom and onion”
Type “/pizza review” to confirm your order, Vinny G will select the nearest location to your delivery location and your payment information will be handled through Stripe. All pizzas come from Dominos, we have no affiliation to Dominos and we charge a $2.99 fee for each order.
We think Vinny G is an exciting, new, fast and convenient way to order pizza that works both on your desktop or mobile device. It’s also a great demonstration of how Bots can work and allow teams that don’t have web browser access to be able to order products they need, all from within a messaging platform.
