This is my first published ranking series of books. To provide some context, I’ve read about 50 books in 2018, most of which were memoir-based or self-development in nature. I record the start and finish date of each book, as well as take copious notes with page markers for referencing. Every month, I post about 3–5 books that I am reading. Feel free to follow along and share your feedback. It’s always welcome.

Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins

If you’ve followed my list for 2018, THANK YOU! The reason I did this was because I know the impact a lot of these books have already had and will continue to have on me. In so many ways, I am better as a result. I can only hope this does the same for you.⁣

⁣⁣I came across David Goggins via Jesse Itzler in April of 2016. Jesse was recording a podcast about how he was able to break out of his mundane routine through perhaps the most unconventional means possible — inviting a Navy Seal to live with him (and his wife Sara Blakely and 18 month old son) for 30 days. Goggins agreed, with the only stipulation being Jesse couldn’t refuse any of the tactics deployed. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣At the time, Goggins wasn’t identified by his name, opting for anonymity as the book was published. Over the last year and half or so, Goggins has gone public and written his own autobiography/self help book, ‘Can’t Hurt Me.’

⁣⁣⁣Any description I write about this book will not do it justice. It’s so much more than what you might expect when an ex-Navy Seal writes a book. This is so much deeper than that. It has elevated my MIND (something we are always at war with) like no other book has before. I implore you — no matter your race, beliefs, or values — if you are human, allow this book to reframe the muscle that rarely gets the attention it should…your mind.⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣

P.S. I picked up the hard copy AND I downloaded it on Audible. Goggins hired a narrator, but at the end of each section, he expands and adds a lot of color to what you just read. So, if possible, digest it this way. Link to book here.
