Vinny’s Top 10 Books of 2018 — #10
This is my first published ranking series of books. To provide some context, I’ve read about 50 books in 2018, most of which were memoir-based or self-development in nature. I record the start and finish date of each book, as well as take copious notes with page markers for referencing. Generally, I keep the notes to myself as they are very situational to me and my life. Every month, I post about 3–5 books that I am reading that month on my Instagram. Feel free to follow along and share your feedback. It’s always welcome.

Virtually overnight, Theranos went from being a $9 billion unicorn to losing it all. This is a story about what can happen when a captivating narrative becomes your guiding star — foregoing basic business principles, ethics, and even humanity. John Carreyrou is a leader in investigative journalism, and despite countless legal threats and hurdles, he pursued this story to the end.
If you’re into investigative journalism, business, tech/startups, or healthcare, I highly recommend this book. There’s a reason it’s been widely recognized as one of the best books of 2018, and not just by my account.
