This is my first published ranking series of books. To provide some context, I’ve read about 50 books in 2018, most of which were memoir-based or self-development in nature. I record the start and finish date of each book, as well as take copious notes with page markers for referencing. Every month, I post about 3–5 books that I am reading. Feel free to follow along and share your feedback. It’s always welcome.

Influence by Robert B. Cialdini, Ph.D.

Categories: Pyschology, Leadership, Marketing, Sales, Design, Negotiation, Management, Relationships

Year Published: 2006

Simply put, Influence is a deep dive on the psychology of why people say “yes.” The use cases extend far and wide — psychology, business, self-development, leadership, parenting, negotiation, management, relationships, and sales. Robert contends that of the thousands of tactics used to influence someone, they can be drilled down into six universal principles. Despite being a psychology book in nature, this book is highly entertaining and easy to read and digest. The truth is, we all use persuasion in some way, regardless of profession. In fact, after reading this, I couldn’t help but think back to all of the times I was persuaded to do or buy something I originally didn’t intend to.
