We were hard at work this season refining our models, pushing out updates to our growers and gleaning data.
Vinsight’s models now include several data sets beyond historical performance and remote sensing data. Updates to our forecasts were made each month this season. With harvest just ending in California, here is our forecast from August for several grape growing counties.
The arrow up indicates that the forecast is above the average tonnage while the arrow down is for below average tonnage. Most of the counties in CA showed higher yields compared to historical production. Compared to the previous years’ yield and good growing conditions this year, many areas saw very good production for grapes. The error rates above, are historical average errors of Vinsight’s proprietary models. This year we saw a 5–15% improvement from our previous forecasts.
