Vintage Productions at the Hannover Messe 2016

Vintage Productions was recently at the Hanover Messe (Hanover Fair), the biggest industrial fair in the world. The theme of the 2016 fair was Industry 4.0, which could not be more in line with current technological trends, or should I say current world trend given the extent to which technology is part of our everyday lives today.

Industry 4.0 stands for the 4th industrial revolution. It brings together several parts of technology to create a system that covers several aspects of modern technology, namely the internet of things, the internet of people, cyber physical systems and cloud computing. Markus Lorenz in a TED Talk on Intelligent machines points out how machines have been here for a while but that they lacked one main thing, intelligence. According to him, Industry 4.0 brings that to former technologies by creating a combination of “physical products and the intelligence and data”. Industry 4.0 does not aim at eliminating human presence but rather combines it with technology, where like in the internet of things, machines and humans can interact. Omron, a company in the automation field presented one of its new technologies in an interesting way. They develops automated components which they used at the Hanover fair to make a robot that can play table tennis with a person. This is, of course, not the main use of their products but it helped to illustrate what they do as a company.

Some experts have argued that the 4th Industrial Revolution is not here yet but we are very close to it, we already started it. Vintage Productions is fully aware of that and keeps track of all the emerging technologies. We have seen in the recent years how new technologies are being used to raise awareness about other technologies. We noticed at the Hanover Fair the number of companies that were using VR technology, particularly VR glasses to help visitors better understand their products. That is something that Vintage Productions has been doing for a little while now. We have worked with several clients and helped them integrate VR technology into their communicative strategies.

How about you? Are you interested in integrating VR technology in communication? We would like to hear about your opinion and suggestions. Leave us a comment or send us an email at info@vintage.eu
