RECOVER DATA FROM LINUX IMAGE USING WinHex.

WinHex is in its core a universal hexadecimal editor, particularly helpful in the realm of computer forensics, data recovery, low-level data processing, and IT security. An advanced tool for everyday and emergency use: inspect and edit all kinds of files, recover deleted files or lost data from hard drives with corrupt file systems or from digital camera cards.

FIGURE-2: Linux Image.

Here I have a Linux image and I’m going to recover data from this Linux Image with the help of WinHex Tool.

Now double click on WinHex Tool to start after that this interface will come here, we have to click on File and under File there is an option of Open click on it.

FIGURE-4: Select Linux Image.

Now selecting the Linux Image that we have and click on Open button. We can search with the File name also.

FIGURE-5: File Recovery by Type.

Now to Tools under tools select Disk Tools then select File Recovery by Type.

FIGURE-6: File Header Search.

Now under File Header Search select what you want to recover available options are Picture's, Documents, E-mail, Internet, Archives, Music/Video etc. Here I’m selecting Picture’s and give the Output path and then click on OK button.

FIGURE-8: Processing.

Here it took some time as it is showing processing.

FIGURE-9: Successfully.

Now after the processing completed this notification will appear which show the details of the process then click on OK button.

Here is the File that we recovered from the Image.

Here we can check all the Images that has been recovered from the Linux Image.

WE SUCCESSFULLY RECOVER DATA FROM THE LINUX OS IMAGE USING WinHex.
