I don’t think that ultimately we need to measure the Ethereum community, or the state of consensus. We need to make options available, and allow people to choose what they believe is best.

However, the more measures of the community and of consensus that we can provide, the easier it will be for the community to stay coherent through this process. None will be perfect, but the more coverage we have of the community’s position with secure measures, the more self-aware we can be.
