Travels: Budapest
Memories from one month ago.
Atmosphere
Budapest. The city in which you feel alive. The city which has so much to offer and you are willing to start your adventure right away. People are very nice and ready to help. Everyone’s friendly and polite. The whole atmosphere of the city is quite unique which is why people wanna come back here again. And I’m not an exception.
Sights
There’s A LOT to see in Budapest which is why I would like to focus on those highlights which impressed me the most.
Parliament. Obviously

Chain Bridge. There are lots of maginificent bridges and I advise to cross them all.

Liberty Bridge

Elisabeth Bridge

Shoes on the Danube Promenade Memorial

St. Stephen’s Basilica. Definitely worth visiting.

Vajdahunyad Castle

Heroes’ square. I used to own a few postcards with the image of this particular square when I was a kid which is why for a long time it was the first thing which came to mind when I thought of Budapest.

There are lots of other sights which you should definitely see in Budapest: Castle Hill, Fisherman’s Bastion, Matthias Church, Hungarian State Opera House, Buda Castle, Citadella, Parisi udvar, memorial to the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence. The reason why I do not have pictures of those is probably because I was admiring the view so much that I forgot to take a few. This must be a good thing, though.
Budapest Zoo
Yes, the zoo deserves a separate paragraph because it is a lot of fun!
Giraffes gave me a lot of stares which is probably cause I spent half ad hour admiring these beautiful creatures

Pretends not to notice me

Oh, hi there

Koala’s usual state

Coffee shops
There are lots of great coffee shops in Budapest and new ones appear almost every month. There is even a Budapest coffee tour. You are supposed to collect eight stamps at different coffee shops (listed on the card) in order to get a free coffee at the last one. It looks like this:

Now I would like to tell a little bit more about those coffee shops which I loved the most. The first one is called My Little Melbourne/My Little Brew Bar and coffee here is absolutely delicious. Flat white and cold brew are my personal favorite here. All baristas are really nice, eager to answer all your questions and willing to have a conversation which is basically heaven for an extravert. I really love it here.

The next one is called Kontakt. This is also a great place with truly delicious coffee. My personal favorite here is cappuccino. Baristas are welcoming and really friendly which is why you can stay there for hours and just talk.

You are also going to enjoy a cup of coffee at Fekete which has a very cosy summer terrace.

I’ve been to eight coffee shops and I honestly loved them all which means that you are definitely going to satisfy your craving for quality coffee.
Museums and galleries
Hungarian National Gallery: to see hungarian art of all periods
Victor Vasarely Museum: to enjoy the works of Victor Vasarely, obviously
Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center: to admire the talent of Robert Capa
Ludwig Museum: to take a closer look at contemporary art from different countries

Budapest is a very beautiful and comfortable city an you are definitely going to be impressed by it.

And when it’s time to leave and you get a little sad, you can at least play the piano at the airport.

See you there!
