It’s Not About Time

There have been many occasions in my life when I finally get to that “It’s about time”, or “Finally! What’s been keeping you?”, or even just that deep sigh of relief ‘it’ is finally here. Waiting and being patient are traits that are always in each of us, but not exercised and nurtured very much… for due reason, too! Therein, when it comes to the things of the Lord, the things of God, and the things of a Spirit Filled life, these two traits are essential elements for growth, for depth, and especially for that deeper, satisfying peace that alludes most.
Waiting on things from the Lord is just the same, but not some empty, hopeless, and never-ending wait… see… it’s not about time, it’s about the journey, the process, and the exposure to His grace. Psalms 46:1–3 tells us; “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (2) Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; (3) Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.”, which is quite a bit of information and hope in one passage. But, that very first verse defines it all quite well; He’s our refuge AND strength (so?), but is VERY present in times of trouble! The other two verses really clarify the ‘why it matters’ part, because there is nothing that can get in your way while and when you are IN God’s will! One of the key traits you can apply to your life is this little nugget of information… not only is God wholly capable to guide and lead you, but He does it RIGHT by your side! Sure, there is ‘fear’ or uncertainty, but mostly because He is not as tangible as having something or someone physical/tangible with you. See… once you are His child, once you are surrendered in His will, once you are walking with Him, not only is your path defined, but it is protected, too. Romans 8:31 even clarifies it with; “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”, which is certainly a bold statement, but if and when you consider ‘who’ can hurt you (spiritually), your life will settle into a very calm, very secure, and very trusting level of hope.
One key limitation… you knew there was a catch, huh… is… us! Yes… ‘we’ doubt, ‘we’ struggle, and ‘we’ lose our attention on His leading (like when Peter was walking on the water, then started sinking), and it all starts falling apart. Trouble is, too often we quickly blame God, or at least rarely consider our own responsibility (to trust) in our Faith Walk with Him. Remember, Luke 1:37 tells us; “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”, which means that He is quite capable of making life happen for us… quite capable to lead us on His path for us… and quite capable to fellowhip with us along the way, not standing ‘way down there’ at the end of our lives cheering us on… right there with us! But, it’s not about time, it’s about the journey… walk it, enjoy it, relax in in, but at least… but IN it!
