We did in my family. Pretty much every meal (with the exception of breakfast and lunch on school days), we vigorously debated some topic with each other. Evenings were often spent watching movies and then again defending our view points. I was never afraid of talking in class or saying something controversial that I’d have to defend. Growing up in an upper-middle class family where (counting Grandparents, aunts, and uncles) the least educated person has a Master’s degree, and most of your ancestors attended college, is a huge privledge in America.
