Only sometimes

There are some times
I really, truly, deeply
Feel you.
Your face against my skin
Your arms solid on my back
Times when our breath is deep and slow and our faces close
Times when I know clearly our love is real and pulsing through the air
Times when I feel our hearts merging in our chests
Our closeness rippling through my body like waves of warm air
And welling up saltly in my eyes

When I am away from you I try to remember how it feels to hold your gaze
Grasping at your words for the closeness across the miles
Some times when we are together I can’t feel much at all
For a moment I wonder if it’s gone
And await it’s capricious return
