Ship Your First API Request : How to Create Shippo Test Token

Setting up your Shippo API keys is a quick and easy process. In this article, I will show you how to set up your API keys and start building your first Shippo app!
Step 1: Sign Up for Shippo Account
Go to https://goshippo.com/ and click on Sign Up Free
Step 2: Setting up your account via Sign Up Wizard
Enter your name , email and setup password you intend to use and go through the subsequent steps in order to complete sign up. If you provided an email address while signing up, we will immediately send you an email with instructions so we can verify your email address and activate your Shippo account.

Once you are successfully Signed up , this is how your landing page looks like…
4. Generating Test API Token
Click on “Settings” menu on the left side navigation tab
You will see several Settings under left side navigation tab. Click on “API” settings
This is the page where you will find API settings where you can create “Live Token” or “Test Token”. For purpose of this article , let’s go ahead and create “Test Token” by clicking “Generate Token” button under Test Token section.
5. Done !
Once you have created your key, be sure to copy it and store it in a safe place. You will need this key when setting up your Shippo integration. That’s all there is to it! With your API keys in hand, you’re ready to start using Shippo to streamline your shipping process.
Here is a cURL that you can run on your terminal to create your first shipment using Shippo Shipment API. You just need to replace <SHIPPO-TEST-TOKEN> with the Test API Token you copied in the previous step, copy the cURL to terminal and hit Enter .
If you followed the above instructions , you should now have a Shippo Test Token that you can use to access our suite of shipping APIs. Here are some of the other things you can do with our APIs.
First up, our rates API allows you to compare shipping rates from a range of different carriers in real-time. Simply provide your origin and destination addresses, along with the desired shipping method, and we’ll return a list of rates for you to choose from.
Alternatively, our address validation API can be used to verify and correct customer shipping addresses, ensuring that your shipments reach their intended destination.
And finally, our tracking API provides up-to-the-minute information on the status of your shipments, so you can keep your customers informed every step of the way.
