One step at a time

If you’re a Christian and “new” to using your dance for God, it is important, just as with any other dancer, that you remain teachable, no matter where or when you start and no matter how long you’ve been dancing. “Teachable” in the Webster Dictionary means, “Capable of being taught. Apt and WILLING to learn.” One of the most common mistakes you can make is to “step” into this whole thing and think you know it all and that’s it.
When I was first drawn to use my dance for God, I literally thought that’s all it was, was for me being a Christian and dancing really good to a Christian song & making this “dancing for God” thing look good! AND I thought that’s all there was to it! I did not realize the Great potential of growing in my relationship with God & how that would greatly affect how I dance AND how God would choose to use my dance. I did not know that just as I can go from Glory to Glory in God, so can my dance! Nothing God has created was designed to be stagnant. EVERYTHING in the Kingdom of God INCREASES. So, I was a little naive in thinking that JUST me being a Christian, dancing to a Christian song was “Ta-da!” all there was to it! LOL! :O) NEVER limit God in ANY area of your life, including your gift of dance and what God wants to do with it. When used as directed by the Holy Spirit, it will be very powerful. Our job is to stay meek and humble, keep our relationship with Him healthy by investing time with Him in Prayer, Praise & being in His Word for ourselves, keep our hearts, eyes and ears towards Him for His leading & keep watch for anything we need to lay aside that’s not of Him. (For example, if pride is there or tries to creep in.) Here’s some scriptures to keep in mind:
Isaiah 55:8–9 says: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways HIGHER than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (This doesn’t mean we can’t ever KNOW His ways or His thoughts, this simply means that OUR thinking is pretty limited, on our own, apart from God, — but if we get HIS thoughts on the matter, nothing is impossible!!!)
The Amplified versions says: “And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.“ The more we behold God, the more we are changed into His image/His character and the more we are changed, the more our dancing will change.
I am so glad that God causes all things to increase! He makes us and our dance more and more beautiful & more and more useful for His Glory! I’m sooooooo glad the way I thought “christian dance” was, was not it! I’m soooooo thankful for God’s ways! Over the years, He has shown me so much! At the same time, I still know, I have so much more to learn! :O) I never knew before that God could speak through my dance as if a pastor was giving a sermon or as a prophet gives a special Word to God’s people. I never knew I could use dance to pray, intercede and declare things (along with my mouth!) I didn’t know that HIS way of dancing could actually usher in His presence and cause others to worship Him! I didn’t know that hearts could be healed and hear from God and receive revelation by what He shows me to do through dance and choreography! I didn’t know that there’s the potential of people’s bodies getting physically healed! When we obey Him, with HIS way of doing things, we usher in His presence and ANYTHING could happen! Don’t limit God. ALLOW Him to take YOU from Glory to Glory. As a result, it will affect EVERY AREA OF YOUR LIFE, INCLUDING but NOT LIMITED TO your dancing for God to go from GLORY TO GLORY AS WELL!!! Just seek Him first in all things, and take it all “One Step at a Time” with Him. :O) ALLOW Him to work on your heart. It’s so important that you know that He’s more interested in the condition of your heart and the closeness of your personal relationship with Him, then what you can do for Him (in dance or any other area.) We have to keep our relationship with Him a priority & work on that first. That IS the First “Step!” :O) God Bless you!!! :O)
Call to Action: Ask the Lord, what intricate gifting in your life you have not invited His counsel. God wants to take you from Glory to Glory in every arena of life! Ask Him today to lead you into the next step of your Heavenly mandate in Jesus Name! Amen!
