Recently we’ve had folks comment on some WORBLI Active BPs stopping production. We wanted to give everyone an update about the recent re-alignment of our Block Producers.
At WORBLI we have taken a calculated and planned approach to Block Producers from the initial launch of our network. Our compliance first approach requires us to ensure we have known, trusted and compliant network nodes. Our commitment to offering a truly, enterprise-grade, blockchain network means we also take technical performance metrics seriously. The criteria we used to select our initial set of active and reserve Block Producers have always been designed to ensure the highest quality for WORBLI BPs. I don’t believe any BPs chosen to support the WORBLI Network were not of the highest quality.
To ensure we will get the best overall performance from our Block Producers going forward, we felt we could have no more than 15 Active Block Producers. We arrived at this number to ensure we can achieve the overall performance metrics we expect will be needed to meet the demands of the network in the future.
We’ve had to make some really hard decisions in order to ensure we can offer the best blockchain network to current and future applications. I say it was difficult with the deepest sincerity. We wish every team who has supported WORBLI the very best and that they ultimately find the success they deserve for their hard work and dedication. Any EOSIO based network would be lucky to have them.
Some of the teams we have had to ask to stop producing for us have been part of WORBLI from our first selection rounds. A couple had already told us they needed to stop producing for WORBLI for their own reasons and we understood. It’s been very challenging for all of us in this past year or so as funding resources dried up in some areas. So we hope the teams who have been asked to stop producing understand our situation as well.
WORBLI is on the rise and we’re excited about the future. In our new resource model, we feel confident it offers the remaining 15 BPs a strong reason to produce for WORBLI for at least the next 5 years.
We made the decision to reduce the number of teams now, so we wouldn’t face the risk of ending up with a mass exodus of BPs if the financial situation didn’t change as rapidly as some would like or need it to. Our decision making was based on a scoring system we developed last year which includes in no particular order:
- Node performance
- Fintech knowledge and expertise
- Promotion of the WORBLI Network
- General engagement with the WORBLI community
- BP Townhall attendance
- Project leads generated
- General business development activities
- Technical development contributions
- Structure and leadership
- Perceived financial strength
- Corporate KYC participation
- Geographic distribution
These decisions are the worst part of our team’s job, but they were necessary to help secure WORBLI’s future stability and growth. We thank all of our BP Teams, past and present, for your hard work and support. We sincerely hope we can find another way to work together in the future and we wish every team the very best.
