A little change in lifestyle can prevent having type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is a problem with the body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal; it is a serious disease that affects 8 percent of adults in the US, but an early healthier lifestyle and specific drugs can prevent the incident of having it.

According to the study physical activity, dieting and using drugs can reduce the incident of having type 2 diabetes.

The main finding of this study was the people that were changing their diet and exercises have 58 percent lower of the incidence of diabetes; the people that were treated with metformin (drug) were 31 percent lower.

“We conducted a clinical trial involving persons at 27 centers who were at high risk for diabetes. The methods have been described in detail elsewhere,6 and the protocol is available at http://www.bsc.gwu.edu/dpp,” N Engl and J Med said .The participants were at least 25 years and a body-mass index (the weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in meters) of 24 or higher.

There were over 1 million cases of diabetes in the UAE in 2015, which shows that it is a serious problem here. People should know how to prevent it, as this study depicts how to lower the risk of having type 2 diabetes.
