The Interested Challenge!

You can win anyone by make them feel important. You should be interested rather than interesting. It is the part of human psyche and center of individual emotions. You should be a good listener. Good listening skills can provide you with a deeper level of understanding.

For the task, my target was to be interested for 24 hours. During this time, I met with people from different categories and asked question about them. My group includes family members, friends, individuals from my professional and personal network. I didn’t tell them about this challenge to make my task result more effective.

To complete this task effective, one should focus on some minute things which make conversation more engaging and the person in which me are interested will feel more comforting and engaged.

  1. Put a broad smile on your face
  2. Follow his body language. If he is nodding his head, nod your head too. If he sighs, you should sigh too
  3. Make a clear eye contact with the individual
  4. Be polite
  5. Don’t get distracted by environment (including your cell phone)

The lesson I learned from this activity is that you can become interesting by being interested. People loves the individual who listen to their stories. By doing this you will gain their respect. When you are deeply interested in someone (or at least I acted like I was extremely interested) people often tend to tell you things unknowingly which they often didn’t like to tell you because they were in a great flow and engaged in conservation so deeply that they will let their subconscious do the talking.

As for the interviews, this technique can be very effective. Every recruiter loves to have that person in their team who is really interested. So, for the interview, focus more on being interested.
