Cllr Warren Ward: New Ferry Will Not Be Beaten and Here’s Why?

The events which have unfolded over the past few days have struck our community right at its heart and all of our thoughts are with those who have been affected.

Seeing our beloved high-street in what can only be described as a blitz like state is absolutely heartbreaking.

Over the past 48 hours we have been inundated with local residents getting in touch to send their love, offering their time and donating money and resources.

You have all provided a light in what has been a very dark time for our community.

You see, New Ferry people are a proud people. We know our roots. We’ve got each-others backs and there’s always a shoulder to cry on. But most importantly we know when to put aside our differences, to come together and to unite.

The local Labour team have been on-site over the past 48 hours and have seen first hand the generosity and resolve of our community.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget being at the centre of the casualty zone based at Life Church -Helping those who have been injured and seeing the sheer fear in people’s eyes.

The efforts of volunteers and the emergency services were simply heroic.

It’s in times like these that we genuinely see the very best of people.

All I ask from residents at this time is for their patience as we allow our emergency services conduct their investigations.

Help will be on hand tomorrow for traders who will have questions and for residents who will have insurance issues.

All of these details will be posted via my Councillor’s Facebook Page which I ask you to share to ensure as many people as possible have their questions answered.

In the meantime, I’ll finish by just saying this:

“I’ve always been proud of New Ferry but I have never been more proud to represent this area than I am right now – In times of crisis we’ve shown strength, compassion and community.”

“That is why we won’t be beaten.”
