Dan Bull — The nerdy rap artist

Whenever someone says the word rapper, the vast majority of people will instantly think of the more mainstream artists such as Eminem and Drake. I might be one of the few who doesn’t think of these massive powerhouses within the industry, but rather thinks of probably one of the most inspirational artists of this day and age.

Dan Bull is an unsigned British rapper from Worcestershire and is also a massive YouTube personality. The reason he is so inspirational is due to the fact he himself has Asperger’s syndrome which is an autism spectrum disorder. It’s quite amazing that he has such a big set back to overcome in autism, because some of the music he has produced is insanely good. He has collaborated with other youtubers which include NoneLikeJoshua and Epic Rap Battles of History.

He is more known for producing many tracks based upon various gaming titles. I was introduced to him with his Assassins Creed rap which was first created in 2011, as well as one of my favourites which is his Skyrim rap (released the same year). He has also released original tracks on certain topics such as medical recovery, war, love and Asperger’s syndrome .

One of his songs, “A Portrait of the Autist”, helps to create an image of what it’s like to be inside the head of a someone who has autism. He raps about how he feels inside and how he is affected on a day to day basis by this disorder. He finishes by describing how it helps him strive to challenge himself as he has said that he struggles to show how he feels towards other people. He describes himself as becoming a poet so he “wrote it down” and that those “with this syndrome are endowed with a determination to succeed” meaning they have an incentive to overcome their issues and show people that they are just like everyone else.

Dan himself

All in all, he is one of the best musical artists and YouTubers out there. Keep doing what your doing Dan, you’re an inspiration to everyone who has ever listened and to anyone else who also has Aspergers.
