New Horror Trailer For ‘Be Afraid’ Deals with Sleep Paralysis Demons

Bloody Disgusting just released the first trailer for a horror film titled Be Afraid, which will be standing over top of you while you sleep on VOD June 1st, 2017. I’m just kidding, movies don’t have legs. Here’s the trailer:

Sleep paralysis is a scary ass thing. To quote Jay-Z “I’ve got 99 problems and I would piss my pants and cry like a schoolgirl if sleep paralysis was one of them.” Great song. Poetic. In all seriousness (pfft), this trailer seems to deal with sleep paralysis as a gateway to some gnarly demons trying to steal that dude from Sleepwalkers son. The description of the film even says something about portals.

Not long after John Chambers and his family arrive at their new home in a small country town of Pennsylvania, John begins to experience sleep paralysis. Lying there paralyzed, trapped within his own nightmare, other-worldly beings visit John. They are entities which exist in the darkest shadows of the night and can only be seen out of the corner of one’s eye. These encounters begin to haunt John, transforming to complete terror as he discovers the entities’ sole purpose… the abduction of his seven-year-old son. In the end, John will uncover the town’s horrific secret, a portal on his land, and make one last attempt to save his son before the shadow people permanently take him away to their world.

You can sense some low budget goodness in the trailer but the shadow effects and monster work is impressive. If you don’t want to wait a month and want some good sleep paralysis content right this second? I recommend checking out The Nightmare by Room 237 director Rodney Ascher.

I’ll be checking out Be Afraid on June 1st wearing whatever the hell I want to from the comfort of my couch. Don’t even ask you perv.
