NEAR Blockchain Bootcamp!

2 min readJun 17, 2022

The event was jointly organized by web3clubs and Blockchain Media firm Bitke. The NEAR blockchain bootcamp saw 17 participants from Mombasa be able to learn the building blocks of writing smart contracts using NEAR protocols at the Technical University of Mombasa, with the main essence being to build next-gen solutions that will shape the tech-industry.

The developers will enrich the NEAR blockchain ecosystem by building scalable & resilient decentralized applications using the NEAR protocol. The participants were able to get mentorship and guidance from web3clubs Instructor Arthur Kamau throughout the three day session.

Participants worked through codebases and live demos at the end of the bootcamp. The goal of the bootcamp was to help developers move from web2 to web3 within the NEAR protocol.

This very first NEAR Bootcamp was created to enable developers who are starting out with Near smart contract development with a solid foundation in NEAR, Rust, JavaScript & Web assembly script. Here is a snapshot of the hot topics we covered across both modules.

i) Introduction to NEAR.

ii) NEAR Architecture and its programming model.

iii) Rust Fundamentals.

iv) Building Near Smart contracts.

v) Introduction to front-end Development using JavaScript.

vi) Summary

Developers can access materials from our discord channel https://discord.gg/8MGQr4u2 to join the two month course with a priority focus in developing applications projects deployed to the NEAR platform.

Finally be sure to stay tuned to our twitter channel @web3clubs to find out about all you need to know from our tech updates for you to be able to access information and resources shared online.
