Web3clubs first cohort developer graduation
Web3Clubs has marked its first ever developer graduation to onboard developers onto the NEAR Protocol as NEAR Certified Developers (NCDs) following a rigorous three months of learning, practice and training in this first iteration. The event at iHub Nairobi was the first of its kind here in Kenya and Africa.
After Mentoring developers in bootcamps, meetups, peer learning and online video sessions, Web3Clubs has been able to provide an environment for developers to build and write smart contracts and be able to deploy their final projects that were part of their certification.
Besides the fun stuff, the graduates formed a tight-knit community of mentors as they were able to be of help to each other with personal projects to enhance team building and networking between developers and the dedicated team at Web3Clubs.
The graduation signals the interest in Web3 and the intent by Web3Clubs to grow and nurture a community of Blockchain Developers in Africa.
Kenya now becomes a strong contender in the Web3 job market having the largest and most dedicated community of developers in East Africa.
Some of the programming languages taught during the 3-month training included:
- JavaScript
- RUST
- REACT.JS
- NEAR API
The turn out to the event included 30 Web3Clubs graduands, our partners BitKe, 15 Ecosystem founders from both Web3 and Web2, The Sankore 2.0 NEAR Regional Hub team and Binance East Africa regional lead, making the 63 attendants to grace the event which provided a camaraderie platform for attendees to network, connect and be a part of Web3Clubs.io developers’ successful journey that came to an end with happy faces and smiles.
18 Learners from Mombasa, Kisumu, Embu, Meru, and Bomet towns graced the event to fruition and were able to receive their certifications, well deserved from all the hard work they had put in place over the last three months.
The attendees sampled out a blockchain game built on NEAR, dubbed NEARamble, created by one of the students. The game winner was awarded $80 in NEAR Tokens as she was able to solve a simple maths equation which from a distance appears complex.
A big thank you to Unstoppable domains, Web3Clubs sponsors for offering $10,000 worth of domains to all the projects and Startups, which will go a long way to accelerate developers to deploy their smart contracts and go live as the quest to solve real-world problems with brilliant tech solutions comes into realisation.
The networking session provided an opportunity for the students to meet and interact with seasoned founders and developers and gain knowledge as they start their journey in Web3, we had veteran Web3 founders and developers offering words of encouragement to the graduates to implement visionary projects that are able to make a huge difference to the society and be able to scale by having market fit viable products.
