16 Reasons Why I Went All-In on The $BAT Token

When it comes to cryptocurrency investments, there’s a sea of options out there, and it’s easy to get lost in the waves of digital assets. But one project that caught my attention and convinced me to go all-in is BAT, short for Basic Attention Token.

First and foremost, Brave, the browser behind BAT, isn’t just another faceless crypto project operating in the shadows. It’s a real Silicon Valley company with a physical office, the kind of place you can walk into. Brendan Eich, the creator of JavaScript, founded Brave browser. It’s not some offshore operation; it’s based right in the heart of the USA. What’s more, the Brave team boasts legitimate LinkedIn profiles and real connections in the software industry, setting it apart from a lot of sketchy crypto tokens with fictional founders and teams.

Brave is a real silicon valley company with real employees.

It was recently revealed that Google paid $26B to various industry players such as Apple, and even Mozilla to make Google search its default search engine on those browsers. Brave has not accepted this and Brave in fact has its own private browser set as default.

Google paid $26 billion in 2021 to become the default search engine on browsers and phones

Brave isn’t solely a crypto venture; it runs several non-crypto businesses, and BAT is the token that powers it’s projects. This diversity and real-world presence give me confidence in the sustainability of BAT.

  1. 12th Most Distributed Token: With over 443,000 addresses holding BAT token, BAT currently holds the 12th position in terms of distribution among Ethereum on-chain holders. This means it’s more widely distributed across more addresses than many well-known projects like UNI, BNB, COMP, stETH, CRO, SAND, BUSD, PEPE, QNT, and SUSHI just to name a few. And remember, this is just considering the tokens on ETH addresses; it doesn’t take into account the estimated BAT tokens held in browsers not yet transferred and removed from the exchanges like Uphold and Gemini.
BAT is the 12th most distributed token on Ethereum.

2. Over 63M Acttive Monthly Users: One of the key things that piqued my interest is Brave’s massive user base, boasting a staggering over 64 million monthly active users. All the user count data and Brave’s BAT repurchase program are published under Brave Transparency report on their website.

Brave Transparency Report shows when Brave purchases BAT tokens.

At a valuation of only $5 per user, I see a significant undervaluation. Here are some valuations of other tech companies based on each active user count: Apple is valued at $1300 PER monthly active user, Microsoft $1260, Tesla $660, Amazon $515, Alphabet $452, $Meta $151. I believe BAT should be worth at least $100 per active user that puts BAT in the range of $4 to $6 per token. Even at $4 price target for BAT, this would put Brave in a very conservative line with how other Silicon Valley corporations are valued.

3. Circulation: Another major point in BAT’s favor is its non-existent inflation. All BAT tokens are already in circulation, and there’s no possibility for founders to create new coins. In fact, Brave buys tokens every month to reward users who opt for ads, as you can see above in their Transparency report. Name one other crypto company who buys its own token every month on the open market. This not only keeps the token supply in check but also shows the company’s commitment to its ecosystem.

4. Your time, battery, heat and cell plan data matters: Brave browser on your phone and laptop does not download nor render many tracking scripts and ads on webpages including YouTube. Over time, not only you save time, and cellphone service data; your websites will render faster, require less scrolling, your battery will last longer and your phone/laptop will run cooler.

Brave even tells you how much you have saved (but not the battery though)

5. Ad Blocker: Brave has an in-built ad blocker, sparing you the need for pesky extensions that might compromise your data. It automatically blocks YouTube ads and other annoying scripts. So, there’s no need to install ad-blocker extensions. Look up how adblockers allowed by Google in Chrome extension store, have been stealing user data and in some cases passwords. Never install any addons and extensions on any browser, ever, period.

Never install any chrome extensions or FireFox addons, yes even Metamask

6. Crypto Wallet: Brave features a built-in crypto wallet, similar to Metamask but more secure, because you don’t need to install any additional add-ons, unlike Chrome. The add-ons, fake add-ons, and phishing emails under Metamask’s name are a great source of scams in the crypto world. (never install any addons, period, none). Brave wallet can be used on Opensea, Uniswap, Sushiswap and all other websites that work with Metamask.

Brave Wallet works just like Metmask but requires no add-ons to be installed

7. Password Security: Brave secures your passwords with AES128-CTR-HMAC cryptography protocol and synchronizes them across your devices using blockchain technology (not a server). This is a far cry from Google’s password manager, which uploads your passwords to a server and then syncs them with other devices. If your Gmail is hacked, which is now easier with SMS 2FA and sim Jacking, all your passwords saved in Google become exposed. Your passwords with Brave stay safely on your devices.

8. Brave Talk, zoom like conference calls but private: Brave offers “Brave Talk,” enabling private video calls and conferences right in your browser. You don’t have to install any software or add-ons and video conference calls with up to 4 users are free. Chrome does not have such feature, there is Google Meet but it’s not decentralized and certainly not private being a Google product.

Brave Talk, is like Zoom but private

9. Earn BAT: With Brave, you can opt to view limited ads and earn BAT tokens even if you do not click on the ads. It’s a simple way to get some crypto in your wallet every month if your country supports it. And now there is no device limit, you can have multiple Brave browsers (regular, nightly and Beta) installed on a single device (phone or laptop) and earn BAT on all of them. These BAT tokens paid to you are NOT generated from thin air, they are not minted. Brave corporation purchases these tokens using money from advertising and pays its users.

Content creators, not Google/facebook/Twitter, are the main beneficiary of Brave’s advertising.

10. Tip Your Favorite Creators: If you have BAT tokens in your Brave browser, you can tip content creators on platforms like YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit. This feature isn’t available on Chrome, so you might miss out on some well-deserved tips.

You can directly micro-tip your favorite content creators almost anywhere.
You can tip anyone not just content creators. This feature isnt available on Chrome.

If you are a content creator, your viewers who use the Brave Browser may have contributed money to you while surfing the web through Brave Creators. Simply sign up as a verified content creator on Brave Creators to start collecting your contributions.

When a user tips BAT to an unverified creator, the browser treats the tip as a pledge, and retries sending the tip over the next 60 days. If the creator verifies, they receive the tip. If they don’t, after the 60 days, the pledge will expire and BAT balance in rewards wallet displays an updated value that accounts for the expired pledge returning to main balance.

So if you don’t have Brave, you should install today to see if you received tips without even knowing it!

Sign up for Brave Creators to earn BAT tokens as contributions from your reader.

Once you sign up , you can add channels from various places you post online such as YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Vimeo, Reddit and even your own website.

11. Deflationary BAT: while BAT is 100% circulating (most tokens arent), the BAT is somehow deflationary, as of this writing, Nov 2023, there are over 414,000 BAT tokens sent to the contract address and growing. I wonder who sends theses. If you know, please comment below.

BAT Contract essentially operates as the burn address.

12. Vitalik’s Seal of Approval: Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, uses Brave. He values his privacy and doesn’t want to be tracked by hidden scripts and cookies.

In addition, @aeyakovenko the Co-founder of Solana Labs uses Brave browser, as he’s mentioned it and posted screenshots from his phone that show the Brave browser.

13. Brave DEX: The Brave decentralized exchange (DEX) is in the pipeline, offering decentralized crypto trading similar to Uni and Sushiswap. It removes scripts that steal user data without needing add-ons.

You can swap tokens inside Brave Dex , inside the browser.

14. Brave VPN: Brave offers a built in VPN service powered by Guardian. It isn’t free but it is built in and requires no add-ons.

Brave’s built-in VPN does not need any add-ons. It uses Guardian as the provider.

15. Chromium Rendering Engine: Dont even get me started on this. The most frusttraing thing is when you try to click on a button on a webpage and it does not work, or you are on a website and dont see parts of the page or it renders in the incorrect spot. Even Microsoft has switched its edge browser to Chromium because trying to play catchup with Chromium doesnt work well. The rendering issues with Firefox and Safari are not only well documented, they are constantly getting worse. The issue is when users don’t see a button or the button doesn’t work, they blame it on the website and don’t understand it’s the browser they are using.

Unlike FireFox, Brave uses the Chromium engine so all websites you visit will render exactly as they would on Chrome, as nearly the entire web development world is now building their websites (buttons, scripts, layout, html5 etc) based on Chromium.

Firefox and Safari rendering issues are well documented.

16. Ask Leo: A Private, Anonymous and Interactive AI: As other companies are racing to collect your data and your AI queries, BAT is a pioneer in creating an annonymous and private AI which is integerated within its search enginer.

Brave AI is called Leo.

As you search, Leo is on the side and can summarize the search result or answer any questions you may have without worrying about information leak or privacy. This is brilliant.

ARE YOU READY TO JUMP IN?

To recap, my investment in BAT isn’t just a leap of faith; it’s grounded in the solid foundation of Brave’s real-world presence, strong user base, and a range of innovative features. It’s a project that’s not just disrupting the crypto space but also taking on giants like Chrome with its unique offerings and advertising giants like Google and facebook.

Think about it, as of today, Brave is 5,000x smaller than Google in terms of marketcap and it’s well competing with two of Google’s most important products, Chrome and Advertising, along with of course many other products Google also offers and some crypto related that Google does not offer.

If you’re looking for a cryptocurrency that’s more than just a token, give BAT a second look. Trading near all time lows against an upcoming bull market next year when BTC is scheduled to halven, could this just be the diamond in the rough you’ve been searching for in the crypto world?
