First, I suppose since lines have been drawn I should say that I didn’t vote for Trump. I don’t like the man — at all. I’m not a Democrat or a Republican.
My point wasn’t about what you believed or why you believed it; it was merely an observation that labeling people assholes because of ‘reasons’ isn’t going to accomplish much of anything other than more hostility and I’m of the opinion that’s what got us where we find ourselves today.
As for your comment about Fox…well, all of the media has an agenda and an audience/demographic. I’ve watched Fox though I prefer MSNBC. It is clear that both are in the business of selling their audience a brand of news that their target audience is most open to. I don’t believe in the ‘fake news’ scenario though I do believe it is wise to be respectful that the messenger isn’t the talking heads we see but more the corporations that fund the endeavor.
I’m giving up on advocating for economically hurting people in general. Since most of them are white, most of them aren’t smart enough to figure out how to do it for themselves. They watch Fox too much.
This is a disturbing comment. I’m not sure you understand advocacy — if people are hurting economically why would it matter their race or education?
People that think the government agencies — like the EPA — are not in need of serious shake-up should probably do a real investigation on just how badly they failed and continue to fail Flint, Michigan.
I am not going to clutch pearls and profess the end of the world because a man that I do not like is now President. We have a document of governance that prevents the kinds of abuse of power that everyone seems so concerned about.
I’m not going to call people that engage with me in a mannerly way assholes or traitors because they believe that something is needed in this country other than what I think is needed. Especially when that person makes factual statements. My emotional knee-jerk burned out a long time ago and frankly I feel much better for it.
I voted for Obama both times. Not because I’m a Democrat but because I believed that he could be a change for the better; much like many people think President Trump will be a change from the staid, plodding, overly-bloated money-guzzling government that is driving this country into debt.
Time will tell if he can do what he promised; personally, I think the man gets in his own way an awful lot but I will wait until he actually breaks the law instead of just behaving badly. I’m not going to worry about his tweets or his boorish behavior because in the end we have had presidents that were just as boorish. What we didn’t have was a 24 hour news cycle recycling every single word and making it headline news every hour on the hour.
After all, it can only be news once; after that it starts to look a lot more like indoctrination.
