That attitude is one of the main reasons that many of the democrats I’ve spoken with online and in person voted for Trump. Not because they believed a lot of what he said or promised but because he was audacious enough to say things that set liberal and progressive’s heads spinning.

They also did not like or trust Hillary Clinton. Her campaign and personality was nonexistent compared to the Trump campaign ‘events’. The people I’ve spoken to are not ‘assholes’ and many of them work in service of disenfranchised groups, instead they appear to be people that found the ever changing landscape of liberal ‘feel good’ and progressive ‘magical thinking’ reaching heights of repressiveness that they considered dangerous.

This idea that Americans that have differing opinions or opinions that you cannot agree with are unworthy of time and effort may be a contributing factor in swing voters, Independents and Democrats that swung in Trump’s direction.
