Part of what makes up a good meal is planning and once you get that out of the way, you can whip up something delicious on a daily basis without any hustle. A weekly meal plan is also essential because it enables you to watch what you are eating especially if you’re watching your weight… or looking to gain weight, you get the gist!

In case you’re not convinced, here are other reasons why you need a weekly meal plan;

· Family meal plans

· Shopping becomes more efficiently

· Money saving

· Time saving

So what will you need to create your meal plan?

1. A small white board /chalk board or a white paper in the kitchen

2. List of all your favourite foods

3. List of food options you may want to add

4. Weekly food budget

5. Just a few minutes (😜)

The most important rule to remember is to spoil yourself once a while so the plan isn’t boring. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s move on to the technical stuff. First you need to create a 7 day table with 4 sections (or 3 sections if you don’t count tea time)

See example as below (You can print this table and make your life easier)

Meal plans vary with regards to whether you’re making it for yourself or your family. All you have to do is adjust accordingly keeping in mind the healthy bit, the budget and the types of food you want to include. Here are a few pointers;

An individual meal plan suggestion

1. Create a personal list of what you would like to eat for the week.

2. Remember to have a cheat day every week as you may have some unexpected plans that will arise.

3. Always be prepared with a backup plan just in case one of your meal plans don’t work out.

4. Create a personal budget on how much you will spend weekly on food supplies.

A Family Plan suggestion

1. Sit down with the whole family for at least 5 minutes a week and create a list of what the family would want to eat for the week.

2. Create theme nights (soup night, pasta night, etc…) as it will make planning more fun and easier.

3. Have one day where the family can eat whatever they want.
