Watching What You Eat VS. How Much You Eat

When it comes to weight management, portion control is important simply because it regulates the amount of calories you intake on a daily basis. It is not meant to make you feel like you are on a diet or that you should subject yourself to frequent hunger pangs… life is hard enough anyways! 😉
Portion control is further meant to keep you disciplined as you continue to lead a healthier lifestyle keeping in mind that when you love your body which means treating it well, it will love you right back.
So what are the other advantages of controlling your food portions? 🤔
1. It boosts your metabolism.
2. It improves digestion.
3. It balances your blood sugar levels.
4. You will not overwhelm your body with calories that will lead to weight gain.
Portion control should always include balancing your meals to ensure that you have the right amount of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and fats in your diet. For example one should begin each day with a filling and balanced breakfast such as Weetabix or 1 cup of Alpen Muesli which contain fiber, proteins and vitamins.
Here a few ideas on how you can begin to practice portion control:
1. Eat when you feel hungry and stop when you feel satisfied. With this in mind you should consider eating meals that will keep you fuller for longer such as Weetabix.
2. Use smaller plates, bowls, and cups and avoid going for second serving.
3. Learn the types of foods that are good or bad for you for example you should be careful with foods that are high in carbohydrates as they contribute to weight gain.
Remember that this does not mean you have to eat less and deprive yourself. Train your body to eat enough and whenever you feel hungry, snack healthy.
If you are now thinking of watching what and how much you eat as part of your healthy lifestyle, here is a one day sample meal plan to get you started. (You’re welcome☺️)
