Whence is a Columbus-based tech startup that developed an app that allows you to save time, effort, and money. Right now, we operate from 7 AM to 7 PM on weekdays and from 8 AM to 12 PM on weekends! Availability is expanding, however. Whence is your personal concierge. Whether you need your game day beer delivered, your groceries picked up, or your morning gatorade to ease the hangovers, we’ve got your back.

Whence is also building a platform for OSU’s startup enthusiasts and it’s beginning to work because it seems that our great university is really catching on to Whence. The enthusiasm already shown by our student body has motivated the Whence team to get everyone involved, and we’re really excited about it.

Apparently, as a student body, we don’t settle for what’s closest to campus or whichever vendor has their own delivery service. Here are the top 10 items Whence’d to campus or near-campus doorsteps (as advised by our analytics team):

  1. Gatorade
  2. Lucky’s Market groceries
  3. Kroger groceries
  4. Pistacia Vera macarons
  5. Beer
  6. Donuts (Little Donut Shop / Destination Donuts)
  7. Jeni’s Ice Creams
  8. Native Cold Pressed’s juices
  9. Chipotle burritos
  10. Underwear / Lingerie (VSX / Victoria’s Secret)

If the OSU campus was it’s own Columbus neighborhood, it would rank in the top 10 in our sophistication quotient (determined by types of purchases * average order value by zip code). Not bad! Currently, the top five areas are: Upper Arlington, Bexley, German Village, New Albany, Clintonville.

Now, here’s the cool part. Whence is building a team of 15 Ohio State upperclassmen who will be brought onboard as potential, full-time members of the team.

We are recruiting the most influential, motivated, and brightest minds that Ohio State has to offer to assist in building Whence and Ohio State’s relationship even further. Our marketing analysts will be in charge of utilizing various resources in order to continue Whence’s rapid growth throughout Ohio State. Along with excellent incentive-based pay, working with a rising tech startup will provide you with both a strong resume builder, and an opportunity for you to launch your own entrepreneurial venture through us.

We are incredibly excited to be involved with the Ohio State community, and we’re looking for students like you to help us reach the student body. Your roles will be enhanced by Whence’s devotion to the sponsorship of several of the university’s charity events, social events, and everyday activity.

In addition to possible full-time contract (pending-graduation), the top five performers by April 30 will be written about in a TechCrunch follow up to this article.

So, who’s going to download Whence and give it a whirl? To be a part of our founding fifteen, we ask that you be a Whence subscriber ($5 or $10/mo). One of the keys to a successful team is authenticity. Ask “Emily,” our in-app concierge chat, if you need help within the process — it’s easy.

Interested? Start by (1) going to download.whence.co and be sure to (2) sign up using your Ohio State email address. We will be selecting 15 marketing analysts (announced on this post) for an April 4 cocktail event at our Short North HQ. You will want to be a part of this.
