What A Day

DAY 1

Yesterday having turned unexpectedly adventurous/tortuous (delete according to mood), I wake up, at a truly obscene hour of the morning, freezing cold and in the necessarily cramped conditions of a truck cab, in the middle of a forest … walk three miles over hill and vale to the train-station, as there is no bus at that time of the morning and I have appointments to keep back in town (fifty miles away) … get to the first of these with about 15 mins to spare … (too little time to go home first, so I just wait).

Second appointment in same place and no point going home during the twenty minute gap between the two … so, I just wait.

Finally get home around 12:45 … sit down, at 12:55, to drink only second cup of tea since 06:30 when enormous noise outside causes me to investigate …

I am promptly assaulted by three of the local yoot.

At 13:30 start three hour process of making statement to the Police.

Finally drink tea at 16:35.

At 18:30, set off to pretty much the other side of the World, to deliver heavy kit.

Halfway there, train is delayed by thirty minutes and passengers finally make their way through the carriages to get out of the front two sets of doors.

Walk ten minutes to nearest alternative station.

Thirty minutes later, train is delayed because there are no staff for train stuck at platform ahead — they are still making their way from where the previous train was stopped!

Finally make it to my destination at 21:00 (+/-) … collect different, even heavier and bulkier, kit and set off at 21:30 to drag it all the way back home.

Thirty minutes later, train is randomly stopped for twenty minutes (no explanation)!

Finally get home at 23:30 … (Looks like I chose the wrong month to quit smoking).

Still … on the plus side … that’s three/more adventures in two days and I will also, subsequent to the third/moreth one … all else being equal … (after all, what could possibly go wrong?) … get confirmation … (hopefully, in the next few days) … of a booking for an international gig in Jan or Feb 2018!

So, all in all, a result — I think.

Day 2

Am beginning to wonder if the Universe isn’t out to get me … if Life isn’t trying … none too subtly … to kill me — today’s excitement involved computers, electricity, explosions, fires, water and more electricity.

Oh, well … all’s well that ends well and I’m going to party tonight — fingers crossed … it’s just started hailing golf-balls as I write this!

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
