5 points for Gryffindor, Emma Watson Gives UN speech regarding gender equality

On September 20th former child start Emma Watson delivered an empowering and personal message regarding gender roles, equality, and feminism at the UN headquarters in New York. Watson was noted by Rappler stating, “How can we effect change in the world when only half of it is invited to participate in the conversation? Men, I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue, too.”

In her speech Watson gave voice to the unspoken issue of gender inequality and the millions of women that are effected by it. She also went to a great extent to reinforce the notion that the feminist movement has no intention of tarnishing the male gender, but brings to light the very necessity of the movement for both genders.
